Wild Chinese Shrub Peach (Prunus kansuensis) - 5 seeds
Other name: Persica kansuensis
The shrub or small tree about 2-3 m (7-10 ft) tall. It is endemic to northwestern China. It is highly resistant to frost (up to zone 4) and diseases. It is used as a highly valued rootstock for grafting noble peach varieties. The fruit is edible—extremely aromatic, but slightly bitter—and is used for delicious preserves (jams etc.) and exquisite (truly unique!) liqueurs. This species readily hybridizes with the common peach (Prunus persica), producing trees with intermediate characteristics—which are highly valued as fruit plants. A rarity in the European trading. Seeds should be sown outdoors in Autumn. They germinate in spring. Alternatively, they can be stratified in the fridge in moist sand. We sell a pack of 5 seeds. We have a limited supply of these packs, so we encourage you to order while they last.
