Garden Nightshade 'ADAN' (Solanum nodiflorum) - Filipino heirloom variety- 20 seeds
Other name: Solanum americanum subsp. nodiforum
This is a vegetable variety of the nigtshade species (S. nodiflorum), traditionally used as a vegetable in the Philippines. Young shoots and leaves are boiled in two or three times changed waters and eaten similarly to spinach. The plant reaches impressive dimensions, reaching over 2 meters (about 7 feet) in height. Therefore, this variety is characterized by low toxin content and vigorous growth. Not every other Solanum nodiflorum variety possesses these characteristics. The fruits are often eaten as a snack when fully ripe. They are small but extremely sweet. Once ripe, they fall to the ground. This variety is very rarely found in the trade. We obtained it many years ago from the Philippines and are striving to preserve and propagate it, as it has very valuable characteristics. The seeds should be sown very shallowly. Grow like tomatoes. Package of 20 fresh seeds (harvested in the fall of 2025).
