Willson's Quince (Chaenomeles cathayensis var. willsonii) - Japanese Quince with enormous fruit - 25 fresh seeds
The fairly large shrub (3.5-6 m = 12-20 ft tall) that produces enormous fruit for a japanese quince, weighing up to 650 g. The fruit ripens late, but in cooler climates, they can be harvested while still green or aquamarine in late September or early October and placed indoors to ripen. Once ripe, they have a wonderful flavor, characteristic of all japanese quince varieties. They are suitable for syrups and wines, and due to their size, they are quicker to process (seed removal). This quince variety is very rarely offered for sale. It keeps features from the seed. Seeds require cooling to germinate (they can be sown in autumn to undergo natural stratification or stratified in the fridge in moist sand). A pack of 25 fresh seeds.
