Clove oil plant (Coluria geoides) - spice from Siberia - 5 seeds
This perennial, rarely found in cultivation in Europe, is native to Asia (Altai and Siberia). Its roots have a very strong scent and flavor similar to cloves, so they are sometimes used as a spice, replacing cloves or cinnamon. The plant prefers xerothermic habitats, well-drained soil, and sunny locations. Frost-resistant to at least zone 5. Seeds are best sown on a window sill in spring. They don't require any pre-sowing treatments, but we're unsure whether they should be sown surface or deeper. We sowed some both ways together and received germination. A packet of 5 seeds is available for sale (collected from our garden in early summer 2025 and stored dry and cool). Only a few packages are available for sale.
