Western hackberry, thickleaf variety (Celtis occidentalis var. crassifolia) - 8 seeds

Huckberry trees are little-known trees from the hemp family. They produce edible, sweet fruit with relatively dry flesh and a large seed inside. They are eaten raw or in preserves and are called "sugarberries." They also make excellent wines. The Western Huckberry, the "thick-leaved" variety, is a relatively tall tree (in its native land, up to 8-15 meters tall, less here) native to the United States (it is a smaller variety than the typical Western Huckberry and produces slightly smaller leaves). This tree is long-lived and produces very hard, so-called "ironwood." The plant is frost-resistant. This species is very rarely found in the trade. Seeds should be sown in autumn in a cool basement or outdoors. They germinate irregularly in the first or second spring. Packet of 8 seeds. Only a few packets are available.
