Siberian Nettle (Urtica cannabina) - 20 seeds
The frost-hardy perennial, hardy to at least zone 5/6, that grows wild in Siberia, Western and Central Asia, and China. It has distinctive, deeply lobed leaves—it cannot be confused with any other nettle. Plants grow to about 2 meters (=7 feet) tall. This plant has a very strong stinging effect—if you're looking for a nettle with the strongest anti-rheumatic properties, this species would probably be your best choice. Its uses don't end there. The young leaves are edible when cooked. They are very rich in vitamins and minerals and can make a delicious and healthy spinach substitute. In Siberia, beer is brewed from the young shoots of this nettle. The plant is difficult to find in trading in Europe. The seeds require low temperatures (8-12 weeks of low-temperature stratification or sowing in a cool location in autumn) to germinate. Sow the seeds surface or very shallowly. The package contains 20 fresh seeds (harvested in late summer 2025).
