Tomato 'Jan' - (Solanum arcanum x lycopersicum x peruvianum x pennellii) (BC2) - 12 seeds
We created a hybrid of three wild tomato species and a wild form of the cultivated tomato. It is likely not fully stable. The plant is self-compatible, so only one plant can be grown for fruiting. Our hybrid has an excellent flavor, uniformly yellow (first) and orange (later) fruit, and is fully resistant to late blight (though it is unknown whether this trait will persist in all individuals in subsequent generations). The 'Jan 2' tomato has only 37.5% of its genes derived from the cultivated tomato (Solanum lycopersicum = Lycopersicon esculentum). We offer seeds that will produce F2 generation plants. The photos show F1 plants—those that produced F2 seeds. Obtaining this hybrid wasn't easy, as the individual species within it are difficult to crossbreed. This is the result of many years of work. If you are passionate about growing unique tomato varieties, you've come to the right place. We are the creators and sole sellers of this variety. The package contains 12 fresh seeds.
Although the spring season is over, we managed to complete all the formalities and can now legally sell not only wild tomatoes, but also Solanum lycopersicum and its hybrids!
We ship seeds with a plant passport. They can only be purchased from European Union countries.
