Tomato 'Smart Blondie' - (Solanum arcanum x lycopersicon x peruvianum x pennellii) (F2) - 12 seeds
We created a hybrid of three wild tomato species and a one wild form of cultivated tomato. It's probably not completely stable, but we sowed F2 seeds and the resulting plants were surprisingly uniform. The fruit of this extraordinary tomato tastes completely different from all other tomatoes. They are delicious and COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. The plant is self-incompatible, so at least two plants, each from two seeds, must be grown to produce fruit. Besides its unique flavor, our hybrid also possesses other remarkable traits inherited from wild species, such as the presence of a bracts in the inflorescence and resistance to many diseases (although this trait varies between individual seedlings – some are disease-free, while others are susceptible). This is because our tomato, which we have named 'Smart Blondie,' has only 25% of its genes derived from cultivated tomatoes. Here we offer seeds that will produce F2 generation plants. We also offer F3 generation seeds in a separate offering. The photos show F1 plants—those that produced F2 seeds. The obtaining this hybrid wasn't easy, as the individual species involved are difficult to cross. It's the result of many years of work, and it's truly a success. It's worth trying the fruit of this variety—the taste is truly indescribable, it's delicious. If you're passionate about growing unusual tomato varieties, you've come to the right place. The package contains 12 fresh seeds.
