Argentinian Nightshade (Solanum physalifolium var. nitidibaccatum) wild ex Poland - 20 seeds
A small annual plant native to temperate regions of South America. This accession comes from the only Polish site of this species, located in the west of the country. There is evidence that the ripe fruits of this nightshade were consumed in the past (but caution is advised, as nightshades from the Solanum section can be safe or poisonous depending on the genetic variety—which is impossible to determine without laboratory testing!). However, we tried these fruits out of curiosity—they have a distinctive, pleasant aroma, somewhat similar to tomatoes. They have transparent skin and are bicolored. There are two forms of this species: one with coarsely serrated leaves and one with entire margins. This is the latter. This species is rarely found in the trade. Seeds should be sown very shallowly in pots in early spring or outdoors in mid-spring. Package contains 20 fresh seeds (harvested in the fall of 2025).
