Chinese "Mandrake" (Przewalskia tangutica) - hardy perennial - 5 seeds
Other name: Mandragora shebbearei, Przewalskia roborowskii
A very frost-resistant perennial (up to zones 6/7 or even lower). A Chinese endemic. A very unique plant – it forms a rosette of leaves and dry fruit surrounded by large, inflated calyxes (similar to those of the Physalis, but much larger) - unfortunatelly we have not a photo of fruiting plant. It truly looks extraordinary. Although some of its names refer to the mandrake, Przewalskia is more closely related to plants from the genera Hyoscyamus and Scopolia. Przewalskia requires plenty of sun and well-drained (preferably sandy), well-drained soil. Seeds should be sown outdoors in autumn. They germinate in spring. Alternatively, they can be stratified in the refrigerator in moist sand or soaked in the GA3 hormone and surface sown in spring. We sell a pack of 5 seeds. We have a limited supply of these packs, so we encourage you to order while they last.
