Wild perennial gourd, Buffalo Gourd (Cucurbita foetidissima) - frost-resistant - 10 seeds
A rare in trading wild pumpkin native to the central and southern regions of the USA. The plant forms a thick, enormous taproot (caudex) underground and is frost-hardy to at least zone 6. This taxon produces small fruits that are very bitter when ripe, but are said to be eaten unripe like zucchini. The seeds of this pumpkin are certainly edible and tasty. Interestingly, this species hybridizes with the fig-leaf gourd (C. ficifolia)—we sell this hybrid separately. A rarity in the European trade. This exceptionally unique pumpkin species due it is frost-hardy— such a "hardy exotic." Seeds should be sown in pots indoors in April and transplanted carefully into the garden in May, without damaging the roots. The package contains 10 fresh seeds (SEEDS - NOT FRUITS!).
