We created a hybrid of two wild tomato species – Solanum peruvianum and Solanum pennellii. It's likely not yet stable, as these are F2 generations. The fruit have a distinctive appearance and interesting flavor, but the most important feature of this hybrid is that it crosses quite easily with the cultivated tomato – Solanum lycopersicon (and thanks to this hybrid, valuable genes from the Peruvian tomato – Solanum peruvianum, which does not normally cross with cultivated tomatoes, can be incorporated into the breeding of new varieties). Obtaining this hybrid wasn't easy, as not every form of these wild species can be crossed. If you're passionate about growing unusual tomato varieties, you've come to the right place.
