Udo (Aralia cordata) - Asiatic vegetable, hardy perennial.

This is giant (2-3m = 7-10ft tall) herbaceous perennial, fully frost hardy in zone 6 and warmer. This is oriental garden vegetable (large young shoots are edible raw or cooked and thick roots are cooked like scorzonera). Likes half-shade and medium to heavy soils. The seeds should be sown surface in autumn in cool cellar in pots or cold stratified before sowing. Package 25 seeds. Only a few packages available.
