Tansy-leaved Thorn (Crataegus tanacetifolia) - 25 seeds
An ornamental and fruit-bearing shrub or small tree. It is endemic to Turkey. It produces abundant, large (for a hawthorn) fruit with a pleasant aroma—somewhat more noble than that of C. orientalis, which produces fruit with similar appearance and taste. The fruit is slightly tart and excellent for eating fresh or for making jams, wines, and the like. The taste reseples somewhat delicious apples. Like other hawthorns, it is heart-healthy. Each fruit contains five seeds, but they hold together like a single pit when eaten, making consumption easier. Seeds should be sown in pots in a cool cellar during autumn or stratified in a moist medium in the fridge. A packet of 25 fresh seeds (harvested in September 2026) is available for purchase.
