Chinese Tuberous Hardy Climbing Buckwheat - Fagopyrum giraldii .

Synonim name: Pteroxygonum giraldii

This is large (often more than 3 m = 10 ft tall), dense climber which creates underground perennial tuberous rhizome to 15cm (= 6 inch) diameter. The flowers are white, numerous - in summer. Fruits 1 cm long thorny nutlets - in summer/autumn. This is very frost hardy perennial (probably to zones 5/7) native to central China. It resembles a Caucasian spinach (Hablitzia tamnoides) in appearance, but this is not edible, but only medicinal. Blooms and fruits in first year from seeds, if sown early. Easy from seeds (they should be sown shallowly and do not need any pre-treatment). Rarity. Package 15 fresh seeds
