Central Asian bulrush, "ground chestnut" (Bolboschoenus schmidtii) - 5 tubers
A marsh plant that produces underground tubers. These are edible. Formerly, flour was made from them. There are several species, formerly classified as the sea bulrush (B. maritimus). Recently, this taxon was separated into smaller ones. B. schmidtii is characterized by its yellowish-orange tubers and the occurrence in Central Asia (Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan). It is resistant to frost and fluctuating humidity levels. It is a rarity in the trade. The plant is also uncommon in the wild. We cultivate several species of this genus, which differ in origin or botanical details. We sell a package of five fresh, undried tubers. A plant passport is included with orders.
